Monday to Friday…

I know it’s Friday, but here’s a couple of photos from early on Monday morning. Very early! After a chilly weekend spent in my home town (Buxton, in Derbyshire) for my last wedding of the year, and the drive back to Edinburgh on Sunday afternoon, I headed out for an early Monday morning walk along Portobello prom. I couldn’t resist snapping the calm seas and sunrise – quite the opposite of the weather we experienced over the weekend!…

Buxton is like no-where else in the UK. Seriously: It has its own weather patterns. Aside from being the wettest town in the country, last week it was also officially the coldest! On Thursday afternoon, as Edinburgh and was getting whipped by gale force winds, Buxton was cooling down and I was getting a little anxious that Mr O and I might not have been able to drive.*

You can always guarantee snow in Buxton at this time of year and to prove it…? I’ve already had a call from my parents today to let me know they’re heading out skiing for the day. From their front door. Jealous much?!

I’ll be blogging the wonderful wedding from the weekend soon! In the meantime, the dome in the picture on the above right was the venue. I kid you not. Ah. Maz. Ing.

Happy Friday!

*I’m proud to admit that I’m always prepared! I had a train ticket booked as a back-up, but carrying all my camera kit on my own through Waverley, then Piccadilly, then Buxton (which by this point was covered in snow), was not a tempting situation I have to admit…
