When I think back to Eddie and Esther’s April wedding I can’t help but grin my head off. Having met up with Eddie and Esther a few times in the months before their wedding, to go over the running of the day, see the church where they would be getting married, and to keep up to date with the arrangements, I couldn’t help but get excited for the big day. When it finally came around, on a sunny Tuesday morning, I didn’t really realise what a treat I was in for.
Eddie and Esther married at the True Jesus church in Edinburgh’s Comely Bank. Having lived in Stockbridge for a few years back when Mr O and I were first married, it’s an area I know well and it was lovely to be back there on such a warm and sunshine-filled day. Having spent a couple of hours with Esther while she got ready earlier in the morning, I arrived at the church to see Eddie greeting guests and already enjoying the day. Behind-the-scenes their post-ceremony spread was being prepared, people busy in the kitchens, friends and family were handing out button holes and order of services. The place was abuzz! And it was wonderful.
Following their ceremony, the guests were treated to speeches in the adjacent hall, where they finally got to see the amazing details Esther had brought to the day – the tea cups and flowers, bunting lining the walls and even a strawberry tower.
Onwards to Glasgow we went for their main meal, with a quick stop at Glasgow University to get some photos in the catacombs and surrounding grounds. There aren’t many days when Edinburgh and Glasgow share the same weather, but I’m pleased that we lucked out with the sunshine that day!
The celebrations then continued at the See Woo Restaurant where guests took to the stage to sing, make speeches, congratulate the happy couple and enjoy a wonderful evening. Seeing the dragon boat, the tea ceremonies, Eddie and Esther’s greeting of all the guests and saying ‘Cheers!’ to them all, rounded off a fantastic day.
Thanks for having us along Eddie and Esther, it was amazing! x
