I honestly don’t know where to begin. Everything about this wedding is so vivid in my memory – the details they brought to their day, their lovely families and friends – it all made up the most celebratory, emotional and happy day. Justine’s stunning Jenny Packham dress, her Christian Louboutin shoes, her incredible eyes, Jason’s tailored shirt complete with initials on the cuffs, his love for Justine, her love for him, her hand-picked bouquet of flowers from her parents’ garden, the venue – the Royal College of Physicians, amazing.
Justine and Jason live in Canada and travelled over to Edinburgh, Justine’s home town, for the wedding. I find at pre-wedding meetings and engagement shoots that I always come away buzzing from hearing about all the plans the bride and groom have for their big day, and this was no exception. As I arrived at Justine’s parents’ house on the morning of the wedding, Justine was all set and ready to head out to her mum’s beautiful garden to pick the flowers for her wedding bouquet. Back in the house, as she arranged the flowers by the kitchen sink, close friends and family began to arrive and laughter filled the house. It was a wonderful morning.
Meanwhile Zoë Campbell Photography was with Jason capturing his morning getting ready, including a trip to Rose Street for the classic shave he and his bestman, his brother Alan, decided to get at the Rose Street Barbers.
Arriving at RCPE that same buzz was in the air for many reasons – the guests chatting, the music from Justine and Jason’s friends Ben and Vanessa, and the venue itself. What followed was a beautiful and emotional ceremony of two people so in love and incredibly happy to be bringing their families together to celebrate their wedding.
I’ll let the photos tell the story now (seeing as I’m running out of superlatives!), but I really can’t tell you how honoured I was to be invited along to record their day. I was also lucky to have the brilliant Zoë from Zoë Campbell Photography second shooting with me. She not only captured all of Jason’s getting ready shots at the hotel and barbers, but was with me right until the dancing so a lot of her images are featured here as well, including her amazing light trail shots. Thank you Zoë! x
